Over a decade ago, Sue Ann Hum made a bold decision to retire from the world of benefits and paychecks, choosing instead to embrace the vibrant life of a full-time painter, art instructor, and creative spirit. Living in Hancock with her husband Rick, their adorable dog, and bougie cat, Sue Ann’s artwork includes portraits, florals, interiors, and landscapes, crafted in oils, watercolors, acrylics, 23k gold leaf, and mixed media.

Sue Ann's popular SHE SAID Series features abstracted realistic portraits of women paired with thought-provoking phrases. As she explains, “These women say what all women are thinking.”

She is a founding Board Member of the new Blue Fern Gallery in Peterborough and is also represented at Harmony Collective Gallery in Brattleboro, VT and Art Collective Salida in Colorado. Hum has shown regionally through Monadnock Art Open Studio Tour, Women’s Caucus for the Arts of New Hampshire and Monadnock Area Artists Association, where her body of work was awarded First Place in Water Media at the 2024 Art in the Park. Sue Ann also teaches at multiple locations, including frequent sessions at MAXT Makerspace in Peterborough.
