Self-taught, Carole began creating art as a child, making just about anything from anything. She studied biology in college and also went to bible school, but her love for the woods, the beach, the sand between the toes, her curiosity of how things work, how the transitions in nature come out in breathtaking wonder- all of these join synthesis with her years in dance and gymnastics to form the themes for her art.

Carole began abstract painting on canvas in the 90’s and has since transitioned through jewelry, craft art, sewing, turning fabrics and found objects into wall art and now intuitive painting along with mixed media. She believes in heading face-first into the darkness
and persevering until the light comes. “It will be there if we endure and overcome.”
​
Her current mix of work is alive with texture, activity and movement. It plays on the predicaments we find ourselves in and the joy in spite of them. She is intrigued by the direction of the soul and the motives of the heart, and her longing for a tangible understanding of these things fuels her work. It is these deep things of the soul that
cultivate and compel much of her work toward humor. “We must laugh in spite of ourselves.”

Carole currently paints in her home studio in Jaffrey. She grew up in Georgia and Alabama and moved to Florida after college where her work got a kick-start selling in boutiques, shops and craft fairs. Now a New England resident and artist, she spends her relaxed moments sipping coffee on the fur rug, at the foot of Mount Monadnock,
with her cats Ollie and Shitzi, of course. “I see light in everything and hope in deep places.”
